The development of fine motor skills allows children to learn daily living skills such as eating, dressing and writing. Some children with autism may experience motor development delays, leading to difficulties in learning these daily living skills.
I will be sharing a variety of activities/tools that I’ve integrated at home, to help my boys develop and strengthen their fine motor skills - all while having fun!
Colourful rainbow activities are always a hit in our household and you only need a few materials for this activity that is EASY to set-up:
Colourful cardstock paper (for older children who are stronger)
Have your child/student punch holes in the construction paper (for younger children), or the cardstock (for older children) and use my free rainbow printable to glue the circles to the paper.
Adapted Option: If your child is too weak to use a hole puncher, you can use a scrapbook circle cutter or circle colourful stickers. Peeling stickers can help children with their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, so you may want to start with this option first and build your way up to the hole puncher.
Hope this helps - Have fun!
Lots of love,
Natalie Abkarian Cimini
