Sensory Playroom Project - Playful Hearts
Rylee and Greyson’s Sensory Playroom
It was such a pleasure to bring this sensory playroom to life for such deserving children and their family. Rylee and Greyson, who are both neurodiverse will be able to develop and enhance a variety of skills for years to come!
Check out some of these before and after photos:
This project was brought to life with the support of our generous sponsors and donors. PT Movement Wellness Centre selected our charity for their Season of Kindness initiative. Throughout the month of December 2024, their front reception was transformed into a pop-up Christmas market, packed with beautiful, locally made gifts that were as unique as the artists behind them. 30% of proceeds from each sale was donated to For Little Monkeys Charity and we were honoured to be the chosen charity in 2024.
We are also grateful to LiUNA Local 183 for their sponsorship, continued support and commitment to the neurodiverse community. LiUNA Local 183 is committed to supporting impactful programs that support our communities.
We are always amazed when local businesses come forward to support our mission and donate products to our projects. Epic Kidz Play Solutions graciously donated a beautiful pink playcouch which will be used under the gross motor play structure and for pretend play as well. Savoiz Designs kindly donated a sensory swing that will be put to good use in the sensory nook.
Mood Board - As always, we look forward to designing sensory rooms that are functional, visually stimulating and calming.
We couldn’t do what we do without our amazing team - Christina and Dave supported us by painting the space and installed the wallpaper. Matt and Kevin from Drake & Co. Renos installed everything in the room and Mike from For Little Monkeys Charity was hands-on with furniture assembly, delivery and other logistical details.
About the Design
We wanted to maximize the space as much as possible and the gross motor structure by Sportmur was perfect as it blended beautifully with the Amore Heart design wallpaper from Timberlea Interiors. The play couches from Epic Kidz Play Solutions will provide safety and security under the gross motor play structure and can also be used as part of pretend play.
The roller slide is a beautiful focal point in the room and is unique because it offers a tactile component combined with both movement and proprioceptive input. Rylee and Greyson both gravitated to it at the reveal!

The sensory nook is filled with a variety of sensory experiences - A sequin wall, a sensory swing, a latches board (for fine motor skills), fibre optic lights (FDMT) and a variety of neurodiversity affirming books were placed on the scalloped bookshelves.
Neurodiversity Affirming Books:
Understanding Lenny: A Book About a Boy With Autism
Letters, Letters, All Around Me: A Little Boy’s Journey from A to Z
Sensory Nook
The neon sign really lit up the room and was such an elegant touch beside the sensory table with bins and storage above. We love including products from Canadian small businesses in our reveals and the slime from Silly Squish was a real hit in addition to the Cuddle & Kind dolls. We also know the alphabet and preschool chalkboard puzzle boards from Creative Beginning will be put to good use over time.
The basketball net on the wall will help with hand-eye coordination, turn taking, communication and more!

I love that we were able to add a personalized piece of wall art that we designed on the wall for Rylee and Greyson with our slogan - Believe in a Spectrum of Possibilities. It was a perfect addition to the pretend play area with the heart hooks, mirror and the Montessori busy house.

The swing in the centre of the room will help with sensory regulation, reduce anxiety, promote relaxation and a sense of comfort and security. It will also help build upper body strength and coordination. Rylee was sooooo sweet when she gave it a try for the first time - Check out this sweet video of her.
Here are a few more photos from our reveal day!
We look forward to hearing about Greyson and Rylee’s development in the future and can’t wait to start fundraising again for our next project!
